A Month of Creativity & Culture: Öznur’s April in Poland
April was a vibrant and inspiring month for our volunteer Öznur — filled with creative workshops, cultural experiences, and meaningful community engagement. From visual note-taking and Easter traditions to festivals, school visits, and volunteering at an animal shelter, each moment brought new connections, joy, and unforgettable memories.

April at Poland
We started April with a Visual Note Taking (Sketch Notes) workshop at MDK. It was both educational and fun, and it gave us a new and creative way to organize ideas and express ourselves visually. 
In the following days, both MDK and the streets of Poland were filled with beautiful Easter decorations. It was a visually impressive time, full of colors, symbols, and the warm spirit of spring. 
One of the highlights of the month was a wonderful concert organized by MDK’s music teacher and students. The performance included some of the most loved cartoon soundtracks and popular hit songs, creating a joyful and unforgettable atmosphere. 
Another very special memory was our visit to the animal shelter with the young people from MDK and Asia, where we volunteered together. While spending time with the cats and dogs, we also tried to help improve their living spaces. It was one of the most beautiful moments of the month for me—I still cannot forget their fluffy little paws. 
Later in April, the Municipal Art Festival for Children and Youth 2026 took place. I had the chance to present one of the performing groups on stage in Turkish. It was such a beautiful festival, and the idea of making it multicultural by using different languages was truly thoughtful and meaningful. 
In another unforgettable moment, Özge and I visited a school for a presentation, and the teachers and students had prepared a lovely little “Turkiye Corner” for us. It was such a warm and valuable gesture. The kindness and attention I continue to see in Poland impress me more every day. 
Another special event was FlorianFest at the Museum of Metallurgy in Chorzów. The young people from MDK prepared a lovely city game for the festival. Watching children and families visiting the museum enjoy the activity and spend quality time together was truly fun and heartwarming. 
To end the month on a delicious note, we organized a Thai food day with the young people. It was a very tasty and enjoyable experience for everyone! 
April was full of creativity, culture, volunteering, and unforgettable memories. Thank you to everyone who shared these beautiful moments with us.
